MLM / Network Marketing The Way Forward!

“NETWORK MARKETING is no longer being tested. It is a proven and viable profession. A profession that helps millions of people grow financially and get closer to their dreams. Jonak Art

The peoples of the Caribbean and by extension of the world, given the state of the COVID 19 pandemic, all suffer from FINANCIAL ANXIETY. The pain of unemployment has engulfed citizens everywhere. Everyone is trying to find ways to make money and hence scammers are very busy giving false hope and depriving people of what little they can have. It’s a cruel world.

Global influencers such as Robert Kiyosaki, Tony Robbins, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, and Warren Buffet have all praised the Multilevel Marketing (MLM) / Network Marketing industry, with two of the named individuals actually owning MLM companies. . It’s time for us to listen to the advice of great leaders in motivation and entrepreneurship.

People from all walks of life have at one time or another participated in Network Marketing, many only to give up after the promised financial and leisure rewards have eluded them. Most people, after trying to convince family and friends without success, and facing rejection after rejection, decide that the industry is not for them. The industry has come a long way. At first, independent distributors had to pay for the starter kit and request automatic shipments, where they were stuck in the monthly credit / debit card payment for the product (s), and in some cases even encouraged to hold inventory.

The evolution of the industry has seen the introduction of services offering digital products in the travel and leisure markets and, more recently, foreign exchange training and trading programs.

People looking for downstairs opportunities are usually taken for a ride as many times when companies promote pre-launch programs lasting several months, only to disappear, in some cases. not until you’ve collected the monthly subscription from thousands of distributors.

Industry statistics are not favorable to people looking to participate, as only a quarter of people involved in multilevel marketing manage to make money as shown in MLM business statistics. However, individuals continue to flow into the industry which is served by hundreds of businesses in the United States, attracting over 18 million distributors, with a current annual sales volume of over US $ 36 billion. While the Caribbean suffers from MLM fatigue, the urge to join all types of MLM business opportunities is strong. The MLM industry is a substantial contributor to the home business sub-sector in the United States in terms of business opportunities, and should be adapted in the CARICOM region. This business model can help alleviate the chronic unemployment situation that is further exasperated by the current COVID 19 pandemic.

The recent wave of investment scams, causing people to invest money for high returns in all types of financial offerings, shows that people in the region are looking for opportunities to supplement their income. The warnings about the Ponzi and Pyramid schemes did not stop them. Accordingly, alternative legitimate programs should be readily available to citizens.

So far, MLM opportunities have been unsustainable for many reasons including: 1. The high cost of sales kits and products / services. 2. In the case of products, shipping costs and customs taxes. 3. Customers limited to family and friends who are generally hostile to the industry, ignoring the fact that in many cases the opportunity is global. However, there are many cases where participation in some programs is not possible because the territory is not open, due to financial regulations and other government regulations.

Both private and public sectors should be involved in a thorough study to identify the pros and cons of the MLM / Network Marketing business model. Perhaps Invest St. Lucia, given its interest in the MSME sector with programs such as and, should be encouraged to facilitate such a study and help to implementation if possible. There is no other opportunity that could be as accessible to the little man as an MLM business, founded on the principle of fairness for all. In addition to opening up self-employment and training opportunities, Saint Lucia will take a central place in aggressively promoting its tourism product, Citizen by Investment program and attractive incentives for foreign direct investors, alongside of the proposed MLM activity.

I am convinced that a digital product, providing lifestyle advice, will make Saint Lucia a model country for the developing world where anyone with a smartphone and a social media account can experience results that change his life.

In the words of Rod Cook – “MLM is the little guy’s only hope.” Let the dialogue begin.

Be careful. Always remember, Yahweh is in charge; dream big and expect daily miracles!
